Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Waking up in the morning, we know what we need to accomplish for the day. Usually it will be a combination of work, school, family, friends, and church. The psalmist reminded us that, unless we put God's word and His laws in front, we will be walking blindly, without light and direction. This is another reason why we should start our days with morning devotion. Mediating on His words throughout the day will guide us in making the right decision and help us to stand against temptations. I'm also reminded of the story of the good Samaritan. The priest and religious leaders both walked the other side but the Samaritan had pity on the victim and took care of him.

  • Are there people on the streets of New York that need your help?

  • Are there people in your life that you have been avoiding due to a painful past?

  • Are there things in your life that you have been procrastinating because it is too scary or difficult?

Every time we pass by the opportunities to care for a homeless person or to reconcile with someone that we had a painful history, how do we know if we are walking by as a priest or a good Samaritan? May we treasure your word in our heart so that we might not sin against you.
