Living Skill

You shall speak to all the skillful persons whom I have endowed with the spirit of wisdom, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister as priest to Me.

Exodus 28:3

In church today we put a tremendous amount of emphasis on the ministry of the pastor. It is true that the pastor is vital to the ministry of a church. But the challenge is that the pastor is not able to personally be physically present in the lives of everyone in the church community. And he definitely cannot touch the lives of the thousands of people who come in contact with all of the church members.

The true impact of the church will only happen when the members of the church live skillfully guided by God’s wisdom. This is what we see in Exodus. The ministry of the priest could only happen if he had garments made by skillful people guided by the spirit of wisdom. God’s wisdom guided their work so that they would be able to make garments for the priest.

It is the same for us today. Each of us must be guided by God’s wisdom no matter what job we have so that we can live skillfully and be used by God in His plan. In the marketplace today we must have church members who are skillful bankers, skillful designers, skillful teachers, skillful technicians etc. This is the calling for each of us. To be skillful workers guided by God’s wisdom to be used by God according to His plan.
