Matthew 25:29
“For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.
We know the story of the three servants and the talents. We often use these verses as a way to show the wisdom of wise investments. We are satisfied when we have kept out of debt and built savings of financial resources. The reality is that these verses have nothing to do with money. Christ is challenging us to invest every fabric of our existence in the kingdom of heaven.
The three servants were given the opportunity to grow the resources of their master according to their ability. No one was given too much. No one was given too little. Their standard was not to compare with what others had or did. It was simply to achieve their best with what they were given. The expected result was not guarding what they had but stepping out and expanding the masters resources.
This is a challenge for us as a church. Are satisfied with guarding our money in safe investments. Do we believe that we have grown the kingdom of heaven by renovating a building? If the Lord came today would He be praising us for a solid bank account and beautiful building? Or would He ask us what have we done with the resources and the building that we have been given? My prayer is that we will not be the church with the buried talent while children are waiting to be fed and educated, while the weak and sick are waiting for care, while millions still are waiting to hear the Gospel.
OCM has been given ten talents. How are we going to use them to grow the Kingdom of Heaven?
