Global Missions

There is an interesting verse in the Old Testament that occurs just after the account of the deliverance of Daniel from the Lions Den. King Darius was so amazed by what happened had occurred that he recognized the power of the God of Daniel. We read in Daniel 6:26 his words, “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.”

Did Darius convert to following the God of Daniel? Did the people of the realm all simply out of obedience to the king become followers of the true God? The likely answer to both questions is no. Darius remained polytheistic and the people largely continued in their lives.

This is a perfect lesson for us that the job of bringing righteousness to a society is not the job of government by passing laws. It is the job of God’s people. A society will only become righteous when God’s people fulfill their calling in spreading the Good News in word and deed.

This is our job in Global Missions at OCM. We respond to the words of Luke 25:47 that “repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations” which includes our local church as well as the world. We need you to financially support our Missions Ministry only if those funds are given from your passion that all nations will repent of their sins and turn to Christ. A key part of our job in the Global Missions ministry is to light that passion in your life. We can only fulfill our calling of Global Missions when each of us (this means you) are responding to our individual calling to preach to all nations.
