My Journey with the Lord

Praise the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him in Church. During my journey of serving, the footprints poem helped me to gain courage when I encountered obstacles and doubts in my life. This is the Footprints in the Sand:

One night I dreamed a dream.

As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.

Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.

For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,

One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,

I looked back at the footprints in the sand.

I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,

especially at the very lowest and saddest times,

there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,

You'd walk with me all the way.

But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,

there was only one set of footprints.

I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you

Never, ever, during your trials and testings.

When you saw only one set of footprints,

It was then that I carried you."

The poem “Footprints in the Sand'' is so beautiful and uplifting. It reminds me of my personal

relationship with my Lord, Jesus Christ. During the time of hopelessness, do I doubt my Lord’s

presence or am I testing my faith with the Lord? When the Lord whispered and answered,

“When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.” The scenery of this

quote comforts and melts my heart while lifting up my spirit throughout troublesome times.

The Lord’s suffering on earth and His path to the calvary fulfills God's plan for our salvation.

This poem also reminds me of my personal relationship with the Lord during the Passover and

Easter Sunday. This is my time to reflect my walk and commitment with the Lord. Am I

walking with my Lord? Does my life reflect the Grace of God? I hope the song, “Confidence”

will not only encourage myself but all believers as well. May we pray to God to give us “Faith

like Daniel in the lion’s den, Hope like Moses in the wilderness, and a Heart like David, Lord be

my defense.”
