Ministry Overview:

The English Ministry Pastor will provide pastoral leadership, to nurture and shepherd the English speaking congregation. The English Ministry Pastor's responsibilities shall include: recruiting and training lay leaders; Preach and oversee English Sunday worship services; Provide Pastoral care as required through counseling and visitation; Developing and managing preventive, enrichment, and remedial programs of the English ministry; Maintaining proper coordination and working relationships with the church staff, lay leaders, and lay volunteers and accomplishing all the administrative duties required to keep this ministry functioning effectively. If, and when necessary, the English Ministry Pastor will assist in the various ministries with the Chinese speaking congregation, leading to the completion of the total vision and objective of the church.

 

Qualifications:
1. Call and Commitment for Ministry

a) A call and commitment to full-time ministry.

b) To have a deeply committed Christian faith, a genuine spirituality and a humble spirit.

c) A heart for OCM’s vision for the English Ministry

2. Educational Attainment:

a) Master Degree preferably a M. Div. Or equivalent from a seminary.

3. Ministry Experience:

a) Must have at least 3 years of church experience

b) Must have at least 3 years of pastoring an English Congregation

c) Ordained minister preferred

4. Character/Traits/Skills
a) Exhibit strong Christian Characters as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Philippians 2:5 that demonstrates a close relationship with God through personal devotion, worship and prayer life.
b) Is enthusiastic, high energy, self-starter, an encourager, visionary and people person who enjoys and maintains healthy relationships with people.

c) Has a heart and calling to pastor in the English Congregation.

d) Ability to preach and teach God’s Word

e) Can demonstrate ability to recognize and develop potential leaders.

f) Has a Christ-like attitude that is accepting and inclusive of all the diverse parts of the body of Christ.

5. Work Ethic/Team

a) To be a hard-working self-starter and willing to do “whatever it takes” for the ministry

b) Able to lead energizing, dynamic trainings and inspiring workshops

c) To be a good team player under the supervision of the Senior pastor; supporting and encouraging other staffs.

6. Languages and Literacy:

English

Cantonese or Mandarin a plus
